Louvre

The largest art museum in the world is on most peoples' Paris wishlist—and it won't disappoint. Don't fancy facing massive crowds? Opt for one the other art museums we've selected instead.

Musee de lOrangerie

Musée de l'Orangerie

This often-overlooked treasure in Tuileries Garden displays 8 spectacular panels of Monet's Water Lilies across 2 elliptical rooms—plus a seriously impressive collection of Impressionist art.

Musee Picasso

Musée National Picasso

This museum houses some of Picasso's personal collection including celebrated French artists Cezanne and Matisse—in addition to the 3000 pieces from the prolific artist himself.

Palais de Tokyo

Palais de Tokyo

This hip cultural centre and its free permanent collection of contemporary art is definitely worth a wander through. Check it out on your way to or from the Eiffel Tower—a 15 min walk away.

Parc de la Villette

Parc de la Villette

Parc de la Villette is the third-largest park in Paris with an eclectic array of architecture, sculpture and interactive installations that art and design students will love. The park also contains many of the city's cultural venues, including Europe's largest science museum, the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie, three major concert venues, and the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris.

Montmartre

Explore the winding cobblestoned streets of this charming district, historically the playground of artists and writers. Marvel at the grand Sacré-Cœur atop the hill and take in the views of Paris.

Musee dOrsay in Paris

Musée d’Orsay

Get lost amongst 5 floors of paintings, sculpture and decorative arts in a stunning former railway station right on the Seine. Notable artists include Monet, Cezanne, Toulouse-Lautrec & Van Gogh.

Pompidou Centre exterior Paris

Centre Pompidou

Designed by Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano, the Pompidou Centre's "inside-out" design with its exposed structural elements and brightly colored tubes, is a striking landmark and great spot for a group photo. Note the viewing terrace and main exhibition spaces are closed for renovation until 2030.

Paris eiffel tower excursion photo

Eiffel Tower

In a city bursting with monuments and landmarks, there is no greater Paris icon than The Eiffel Tower. Visit the lawns in the 7th district for the perfect group photo.

Champs Elysees

Champs-Élysées

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is a boulevard in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, 1.9 kilometres long and 70 metres wide, which runs between the Place de la Concorde and the Place Charles de Gaulle, where the Arc de Triomphe is located. It is famous for its theatres, cafés and luxury shops, and for the military parade that takes place each year on the avenue on 14 July to celebrate Bastille Day. The name is French for Elysian Fields, the paradise for dead heroes in Greek mythology.

Arc de Triomphe

It's enough to experience one of France's most iconic monuments from the ground—and a great photo opportunity. Buy a ticket to climb to the top and observe the frenzy of Champs-Élysées below.

Ile de la Cite Notre Dame

Notre Dame Cathedral & Île de la Cité

A must-see for any school visit to Paris, this island in the Seine is the historical centre of Paris. Home to the newly restored Notre Dame cathedral, described by President Macron as "even more beautiful than before" the fire, and other must-see attractions such as the Palais de Justice and the Pont Neuf bridge, you'll need at least an hour to explore.

Bateaux Mouches river cruise

Seine River Cruise

Take in Paris from the waters of the river Seine on a cruise that will take you under many of the city's beautiful bridges. It's even more magical by night when the city of lights really comes alive.

Versailles

Palace of Versailles

This grandiose palace was once home to French monarch Louis XIV. Beneath the face value of the immaculate gardens and halls, there is historical significance for groups studying the world wars as the Treaty of Versailles, which officially ended WWI, was signed here.

Passages Couvert

Covered Passages of Paris

Keep an eye out for these decorative shopping arcades from the 1800s if you find yourself in the 2nd district. The most impressive of the bunch? Passage des Panoramas & Galerie Vivienne.

Jardin du Luxembourg excursion photo

Jardin du Luxembourg

Certainly worth a visit anytime of year, but particularly in summer where your group can lounge on the lawns or grab a chair and recharge in the shade.
